From Validation to Delivery: Ozeaon's August and September 2026 Update

Two Months of Groundwork

If July was about validation, August and September were about getting ready to deliver. With Closed Alpha testing underway, Ozeaon spent these two months building the financing, structure, and operational readiness needed to move from a tested platform into a delivered one.

The period brought progress across four fronts: potential financing, expanded specialist capacity for OCIS, two grant applications submitted through the LIFE Programme, and legal readiness work including reviewed Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy.

Creating the Runway for the Next Stage

Discussions are underway regarding potential financing of up to US$500,000 to support continued development of the Ozeaon Platform and OCIS. The opportunity was introduced through Advisory Board member Ralph Peter Price. These discussions are still underway and the financing has not yet been secured.

Additional financing of this kind would support four areas: sustained platform development through the next release cycle, specialist capacity for OCIS covering dMRV, integrity scoring and impact assessment, user acquisition through Ozeaon Tide growth beyond the founding network, and commercial readiness through revenue activation and partner facing products.

Strengthening the Development Model

Ozeaon's development structure was reorganised in September to improve cost efficiency, development speed, and specialist capability across two systems. From October, ZentixSoft becomes the platform delivery partner for the Ozeaon Platform, while Tandem Creative Dev pauses active development for now, remaining part of the wider Ozeaon network and available for specialist support.

OCIS development gains a dedicated partner in Protonshub, alongside specialist support from Reneta Georgieva on dMRV workflows, ecological impact assessments, and project integrity scoring, and Kilian Woods on project management and climate alignment. OCIS remains in active development, with this increased specialist focus intended to sharpen its core functions ahead of further build-out.

Moving Beyond Closed Alpha

Onboarding infrastructure is now in place, alongside live content types including organisation profiles, articles, projects, and community content. With legal documents reviewed, the platform is preparing to widen participation beyond its first Closed Alpha cohort.

Building Ozeaon Tide Through the Network

Ozeaon is asking each Advisory Board member to contribute a shortlist of five to ten people or organisations from their trusted networks, spanning researchers, universities, ocean organisations, innovators, funders, educators, sustainability professionals, and community leaders. Ozeaon will prepare the invitation materials, including private invitation copy, platform information, email templates, and Ozeaon Tide invitation packs, so the ask remains a warm introduction rather than added administrative work.

Multiple Pathways to Growth

August and September also brought three parallel growth pathways. Two proposals were submitted through the LIFE Programme, covering Climate Change Adaptation and Nature Governance and Information. Ozeaon pitched through EIC Water's WAVEMAKERS competition in association with Universidade de Coimbra, an opportunity to sharpen its investment and partnership narrative within the European water innovation ecosystem. And Ozeaon has been invited to participate in Ocean Community's Blue Path to Impact accelerator, focused on strategy, marketing, and market development, a connection strengthened by new Advisory Board member Susanne Wedin-Schildt, founder and CEO of Ocean Community.

Rethinking an Opportunity

Ozeaon's application to lead an independent Special Event at the UN Ocean Decade Conference in Rio was not selected. However, a broader Special Event led by ECOP has been approved, opening a potential pathway for Ozeaon to participate as part of the wider ECOP community. The original concept, Ocean Beyond Borders, an initiative spanning art, design, science, and regenerative innovation for the Ocean Decade, remains valuable, though its format and positioning are now being reconsidered. Possible directions include an independent or parallel initiative timed around the conference, engagement with Museu do Amanhã and Rio's cultural ecosystem, and continued ECOP Brazil engagement.

Governance: A Growing Advisory Board

September also brought a new addition to Ozeaon's Advisory Board. Susanne Wedin-Schildt, founder and CEO of Ocean Community, joins as Innovation Ecosystems and Market Development Advisor, supporting Ozeaon with strategic positioning, innovation ecosystems, market development, and pathways toward adoption and scale.

Looking Ahead: London and Lisbon

Ozeaon will exhibit at the Blue Earth Summit in London in October, and again at Web Summit in Lisbon in November. Four priorities carry the organisation into these months: onboarding users and building Ozeaon Tide, increasing OCIS development focus on dMRV architecture and integrity scoring, advancing financing discussions and additional grant applications, and deepening ecosystem visibility across both summits.

Together, these two months mark a shift from proving the platform works to preparing it, and the ecosystem around it, to scale.
